The Redstart Primary School is situated in a pleasant part of Chard, a small town, nestling in a corner of South Somerset between Dorset and Devon. Chard is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is within easy driving distance of the county town of Taunton, Exeter and Yeovil, as well as the world-renowned Jurassic Coast.
We are a two-form entry primary school with a large nursery on-site.
The school was awarded an Outstanding judgement in all areas by OFSTED in March 2014 with 'the strong sense of collaboration very evident in the school' highlighted as a strength. As well as 'a very supportive and happy learning environment', we offer a range of modern purpose-built facilities, including six superb new classrooms and a fabulous kitchen. The school is extremely well-equipped with excellent IT resources, including banks of iPads and touch sensitive screens in all rooms; extensive Forest School facilities on site complete with teepee and pond; up-to date teaching resources and an excellent working environment.
All our teachers teach in teams across year groups, providing high quality learning opportunities for all our pupils. Our highly skilled teaching assistants are an integral part of these teams.
Redstart has an excellent reputation locally and we are a very popular school. Being part of the newly-formed Redstart Learning Partnership, you would be joining us at a very exciting time, with the Multi-Academy Trust providing many leadership and learning opportunities.
The staff at Redstart are dedicated professionals and passionate about providing the best possible learning environment for our fantastic children.
All visitors comment on the calm, purposeful atmosphere that pervades our classrooms and the high standards of behaviour of our children at all times, both indoors and outside, as well as on our frequent trips and visits out. Alongside our exciting, new developing curriculum, our innovative weekly 'Redstart University' courses provide a chance for Key Stage 2 teachers to lead learning with small groups in areas not normally part of a primary school day. This provides an opportunity for creative learning and areas to be developed that have particular relevance for our children.
