Working with Exeter University and The Jurrasic Coast Teaching School Alliance (JCTSA), The Redstart Teaching Alliance will be offering schools direct places across the alliance in 2020/21. If you would like to register your interest please contact Beth Souster details below.
School – led initial teaching training (ITT) - The Redstart Teaching Alliance plans to take an active role in the recruitment and selection of trainee teachers through the 'Schools Direct' route working with JCTSA. We will have a clear plan for teacher training, including access to outstanding lessons and teachers for observation and planning, mentoring and quality assurance.
The Redstart Teaching Alliance Model
The Redstart Teaching Alliance will offer initial teacher training (ITT) to graduates and career changers joining the teaching profession through our School Direct programme.
As a trainee teacher you will have access to school and classroom experience that will equip you with the knowledge, skills and experience you will need to become an excellent class teacher.
Who is this programme for?
This programme is for graduates and career changer graduates wishing to train to become teachers. You will need to meet the following requirements before you can be accepted onto the programme:
- You’ll need to hold an undergraduate degree awarded by a UK higher education provider, minimum requirement 2:1
- You’ll need to have achieved a standard equivalent to grade C or above in the GCSE examinations in English and mathematics
- If you intend to train to teach pupils aged 3-11 (early years and primary), you must also have achieved a standard equivalent to a grade C or above in a GCSE science subject examination.
What is involved?
You will have a one-year placement at one of our alliance schools and will benefit from a contrasting experience undertaking a short-term placement at a second school.
One year (September through to July)
Successful completion of the programme leads to qualified teacher status (QTS) as well as a PGCE.
Placements are available throughout the Redstart Teaching Alliance Schools starting September 2020.
