Welcome to our school
Welcome to our school
The Redstart Primary School is situated in Chard, a small town in South Somerset between Dorset and Devon.
The school was awarded an Outstanding judgement in all areas by OFSTED in March 2014. In November 2019, the school received a letter from The Right Honourable Nick Gibb MP, Minster of State for School Standards, congratulating us on our exceptional attainment in the Year 1 Phonics tests.
It is our aim that all pupils are supported to achieve to their full potential in an environment which is nurturing and supportive. We know that pupils achieve best when they are happy and enjoying their work and the climate in which we work at Redstart does just that. We want all of our pupils to thrive and flourish during the time with us. If in later years, our pupils look back upon their time wtih us and reflect that it made a difference to their lives, we will have achieved our goal.
The Redstart Primary School is a 2 form entry primary school with a large nursery offering 32 places. Our school offers a range of modern, purpose built facilities and a superb outdoor environment where we deliver high quality Forest School and PE sessions. Our 14 classes are organised in year groups with parallel class teachers working together to plan and deliver high quality teaching and learning opportunities to all of our pupils. Our exciting curriculum has been designed to meet the needs of all of our pupils and to equip them with the skills to contribute to life in the 21st century. All visitors comment on the calm, purposeful atmosphere that pervades our classrooms and the high standards of behaviour of our children at all times, both indoors and outside, as well as on our frequent trips and visits out. To find out more about the school, please contact us to arrange a visit.
The school has Teaching School status and regularly offers professional development opportunities to teachers across the region. In addition, the school was given sponsor status in 2015 to support schools who find themselves in challenging circumstances. As a result, the school was the founder school of The Redstart Learning Partnership which has gone on to sponsor 7 inadequate schools over recent years.
We look forward to welcoming you to our school.
